Info
In his quest to develop Jeppe Just Instituttet, which is ordinarily a trio, Jeppe Just collaborates with musicians and composers Connor McLean (guitar, vocals), Mika Persdottír (viola, vocals), James Black (saxophone, vocals, various), and NN (double bass, vocals), who all contribute to a series of new songs. The music is composed for guitar, ukulele, double bass, saxophone, viola, various organs, bass melodicas, vocals, toy instruments, glockenspiel, kalimbas, percussion, and hardware. The songs blend Jeppe Just Instituttet’s nostalgic universe, DIY, folk influences, and a particular focus on vocal harmonies.
Around twelve songs are performed with different instrumental formations, from trio to sextet, interspersed with small vignettes. The concert features specially developed rotating and automated ‘rain sticks’ and other instruments, with light and sound elements incorporated to create a total experience that engages the entire physical space.

Jeppe Just Christensen (b. 1978) works with a variety of elements in his music, which reference themes such as childhood and nostalgia and represent musical mismatch. Christensen, who is based in Copenhagen, uses and reuses found objects and instruments in new constellations, both musically and visually, and he often builds or rebuilds his instruments himself. In 2011, he formed Jeppe Just Instituttet along with Matias Seibæk and David Hildebrandt. The group performs songs that span both lullabies and drunkard songs on unique instruments, including saw, melodica, kalimba and a variety of untraditional percussion.
